| Welcome!
Gerane R. Mooney is an accomplished oil painter. Early in her career, she experimented with expressions ranging from representational to near-abstract, in due course settling on what is best described as “impressionist with a representational edge.” As her style and touch with colors developed, she traveled throughout America, Canada, continental Europe, Great Britain, and the Far East to gather materials from which to produce paintings of an endearing and lasting quality.
These works are available through galleries, juried shows, direct from the artist and by commission. Among the California galleries are Mountain Rose (Montrose, California), and Segil Fine Art Source (Monrovia, California). Gerane’s work was exhibited in the Oil Painters of America 2003 juried exhibition held at the Waterhouse Gallery in Santa Barbara, California. Commissioned works are found in homes throughout America.
Beginning in February 2000, Gerane has appeared in four-week annual engagements as featured artist at Descanso Gardens in La Canada Flintridge.
Gerane defies commercial pressures to paint only subjects that inspire her, subjects that include people, landscapes, seascapes, florals and animals. This inspiration is manifest in the lively colors and sweeping brush strokes for which her works are best known. One original work – Calla Lilies – is on permanent display at the La Canada Flintridge public library. The Montrose Chamber of Commerce published her work, Small Town USA, in the May-June 2002 issue of The Boulevard magazine and on the cover of its 2002 member directory. One of her works appeared in Art of the West, September-October 2006 edition, published by Oil Painters of America.
Gerane studied art at Pasadena City College, McGroarty Art Center, and Brand Art Studio. She has also taken continued education workshops from master painters Mian Situ, Ted Goerschner, Margo Lennartz, Vic Riseau, Penny Durmand, and Martha Saudek. Professional affiliations include Verdugo Art Association, The California Art Club, and Oil Painters of America.
Gerane has contributed generously to charities, allowing Autry National Center, the Autism Society, and Descanso Gardens Guild to auction donated works, and placing others on permanent display with the La Canada Flintridge Library, and St. Joseph’s new Cancer Center. The work given to the Autry National Center will be presented for auction at its 20th annual gala, September 29, 2007. |
